What is chiropractic?
Chiropractic is a branch of the healing arts which is based upon the understanding that good health depends, in part, upon a normally functioning nervous system as well as the structure and function of your core (especially the spine, and nerves extending from the spine to all parts of the body). "Chiropractic comes from the Greek word Chiropraktikos, meaning "effective treatment by hand." Chiropractic stresses the idea that many disease processes and dysfunctions begins with the body's inability to adapt to the environment. It looks to address these dysfunctions by locating and adjusting the musculoskeletal areas of the body which are functioning improperly. Accidents, falls, stress, tension, overexertion, and other factors can result in subluxations or misalignments of the spinal column causing irritation to the spinal nerve roots and soft tissues. Reducing this irritation and restoring the spinal column to its proper alignment can cause your body to operate more efficiently and more comfortably.

About your first visit
Your chiropractor will start with a discussion about you, your health and your goals. A health history will be obtained and all of your health concerns will be covered. We then move onto a series of non-invasive tests designed to pinpoint not just the location but also the cause of your specific problems. We may also take a couple of x-rays to give us a better understanding of your underlying structure. Once we have informed you of our findings and explained our treatment options and answered your questions about chiropractic treatments we will together start the healing process. A chiropractor restores balance to the body with an "adjustment" or specific alignment of any vertebrae that fails to function normally. There are many procedures and techniques that a chiropractor can use for the adjustment. At Free Bridge Chiropractic our first priorities are your health and comfort. Under normal circumstances, adjustments do not hurt. The patient may experience a minor discomfort for only a couple of seconds during the adjustment; adjustments are extremely safe and will help restore your health and wellbeing.
